About the artists:LaToya Jackson Sibley AKA, Toi the Poetic Beauty, was born in Alexandria, LA. She has been writing for nearly 30 years. Toi is an educator by trade who lives in Baton Rouge with her husband of 15 years, Brent, and their 2 children, Brent Jr. and Trista. Shana Turner’s definition of womanhood comes from the influence of the women who raised her; a mix of straight and gay, multi-racial, working-class, street-smart, community activists. They were warm and rough women, who laughed loud, cussed often and taught Shana to challenge authority when it harmed people.
