About the authors:Erica L. Williams was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Excerpts from her yet to be published novel ‘Savannah Road’ has appeared in Kansas City Voices, Necessary Fiction and Volume 1 Brooklyn. She is a recipient of residencies or scholarships from Hurston/Wright Writers Conference, Eckerd College’s Writers in Paradise, Bindercon, and Kweli Journal Scholars Program. Her work has also appeared in For Harriet and BlogHer. She received an MFA in creative writing from The Vermont College of Fine Arts. Shannon Kenny is a punk-ass. She's a turtle hell raiser, the pink sharp of a radiant glass. Her hair catches fire. It gives her nine lives more. Her poems have teeth. On occasion, she slams. Toiryan Milligan is a Baton Rouge Louisiana Poet. He has been performing poetry since high school. In 2011 he was the number 1 ranked teen poet in the city of Baton Rouge, with perfect scores throughout competition and he won The Teen AllCity Page Presence Award. An award given to the best written poem submitted in the competition. He went on to earn a spot on the 2011 National Slam Team for the youth competing at Brave New Voices. In 2016 Toiryan's journey continued. He became the number one ranked Adult Poet in Baton Rouge earning the title Grand Slam Champion, and earning a spot on the 2016 National Slam Team for Adults. Toiryan has performed in various events, including Bayou Classic, Poetry Vs Hip Hop, Brave New Voices, The National Poetry Slam Competition and Southern Fried Poetry Slam in 2015 where he ranked 13th out of 135 poets.
